GHLC at JHU Presentation: “Adolescent Sleep and Structural Health Gaps”
Adolescent sleep deprivation is a critical yet overlooked public health issue with neurological, economic, and social impacts. Contributing factors include early school start times, academic demands, and screen exposure. International comparisons, such as South Korea’s “Shutdown Law,” show that surface-level solutions are ineffective without structural reform. This project advocates for policy changes—delayed school start times, better screen time regulation, and global recognition of sleep health within the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

BENMD Presentation at Ether Dome: “Understanding Stimulants and Exploring Safer Options.”
Stimulants are widely used to enhance alertness, focus, and performance, yet traditional options such as amphetamines and methylphenidate pose significant risks of dependence and side effects. This research explores safer alternatives, focusing on caffeine and modafinil as potential substitutes. It underscores the importance of awareness, regulation, and innovation in stimulant use to ensure safer, more sustainable enhancement of attention and wakefulness.
