About

Currently, I’m working with public health officials and school administrators to launch this project in schools.

With the Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC), especially the School-Based Health Team, I’m preparing a pilot in one of their partner schools. I’m also working with my school and Dr. Joseph Kelley at Merrimack College to adapt the program for Merrimack students.

BPHC Board Meeting

At a Boston Public Health Commission board meeting, I pitched the project to seven program directors representing five programs—Boston Area Health Education Center (BAHEC), Health Resource Center (HRC), Start Strong, Youth Development Network (YDN), and the Youth Advisory Board (YAB).

The directors were enthusiastic and offered practical feedback on implementation. I asked program-specific questions and gained clearer insight into how public-health projects in high schools typically get started.

School Based Health Team

At a meeting with Peter Rempelakis (Director of Child and Adolescent Mental Health: School-Based Health Centers, BPHC), Peter explained how projects are initiated within the School-Based Health Centers team.

He expressed interest in piloting the program in one of their eight partner schools, which provide free healthcare services. He noted that staff training is the first step, and we’re now working toward that.

Merrimack College

At a meeting with Dr. Joseph Kelley, Professor Emeritus at Merrimack College and Austin Prep, we discussed ways to bring this project to life with 200+ Merrimack College students. Together, we aim to validate and implement the model and promote sleep wellness among college students by integrating the project into Psychology and Neurology courses.
